Low Mood or Depression
Low Mood or Depression
Low Mood or Depression is one of the most common psychological disorders. Often triggered by a significant situation; like a break down of a relationship, the loss of a loved one, or redundancy. And so this can lead to feelings of uselessness, despair, low self-esteem, lack of interest, confidence or concentration.
A sufferer may become more insular, because they start not engaging with others and even pushing close friends and family away. They may display, a loss of interest in things they use to love. Preferring to cut off from the world, hideaway, and not bother with general activities.
Just, get over it, right?
Unfortunately, people often think that someone with depression should just ‘Get over it’. ‘Snap out of it and get a grip’. But for a person suffering from this condition, it is not as easy as shrugging off a bad mood, because if it was you would do it.
Everyone experiences bad moods. Or have moments of upset, or ‘off days’. Though for a person suffering from depression, these ‘off days’ can become weeks and months, years even. And feelings of uselessness get greater and greater, which unfortunately for some, can lead to self-harm or even suicide.
Symptoms of Low mood or depression can also be:
- Negative forecasting of the future
- Weight gain or loss
- Loss of their spark and energy
- Sleep disturbance
- Reoccurring thoughts of death
- Lack of concentration
- Low self-esteem In my experience. Low mood or depression has been very treatable with Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. I would expect to see a client from anywhere between 9 – 12 sessions for a sustainable change. This is, however, person dependant, therefore the sessions can equate to a little more or less. And would be discussed in the first session. Please note the sessions works very well alongside any antidepressant medication. Viv helped me through the most difficult period of my life after a sudden breakup and feeling lost after graduating from my masters. She helped me rediscover who I was and got me in touch with myself again and most importantly helped me to be more positive. My mental health is an ongoing battle but without her help and care, I would be in a much worse position than I am now. She is very caring and attentive and very easy to talk to, I will definitely contact her again when I feel I need a ‘top-up’.
My experience of low self-esteem and depression has been transformed by my sessions with Viv. I am now much more positive and can rationalise successfully. Viv has enabled me to move forward and to grasp ‘life’ with both hands I’m much more focused and looking to the future I can’t thank her enough.
