Doorway to changeClear Space, Clear Mind? The run up to Christmas in my household meant a lot of decorating and trips to Ikea. Wow, now that’s an experience on a Saturday I can tell you, but it got me thinking (as many things do) about our personal space, our homes.

I’m often told how life is so busy for some with work and family pressures, that they feel like they’re in a continual loop of playing catch up. Never being able to enjoy their home, just using home as somewhere to eat and sleep, not to relax in and truly enjoy.

Since a lick of paint, some new lights and a few items of handy storage, the energy in my house has changed. It’s more uplifting, feels more spacious – I notice how I feel lighter in it. It’s really interesting. You become such a reflection of your surroundings.

Small Changes

Small changes make such a difference. It might not be that painting and storage is needed, it might be clearing your desk that’s required, or that under stairs cupboard, or going though that pile of post. Whatever it is, those niggles becomes a reflection of you and you a reflection of them.

A clear house helps us have a clear mind, it’s like pruning the garden I suppose, prune at the right time and the blooms will be better. Also a good clear out can mean giving stuff away, so local Charity shops could benefit from this update, breathing new life into old things.

And not only that, it breathes life into your own person space, creating new opportunities, new connections, feeling grateful and more clarity. Win, win in my eyes!

So how can you make that small change for your household – does your desk need a New Year tidy, mine did!!!
